The job: The company makes and erects high quality timber garden structures and small
buildings at its workshop in Froxfield Green. These are made to order and are
individually designed. The designs are either drawn by architects/garden designers
or by the company. Some experience of working from drawings would be useful.
The range of work includes green oak framing using hand skills, some joinery
and second fixings. Repair or restoration of garden structures may also feature.
You will be working with minimum direct supervision, often taking responsibility
for the skilled component of the job for others to complete or erect. The job
demands a flexible attitude and an ability to undertake a range of work in order
to deliver jobs on time and to budget.
The job will entail working at the client's premises to erect or install the
finished structures.
Applications for full or part time working will be considered.Hours (full time)
are 40 per week. 4 weeks holiday plus bank holidays.Pay rate is linked to skill
level.
The person:
We are looking for a general woodworker with experience of working on a variety
of projects. Formal qualifications are advantageous but not essential, a good
level of practical skill is required.
The successful applicant will have good hand skills and consistently produce
accurate and high quality work. Experience of working with a range of wood working
machines is required. An ability to be self critical about the quality of his/her
own work is important.
The person appointed will be a good timekeeper, able to manage their time at
work and to prioritise their work. An ability to work effectively under pressure
but without constant direct supervision is also essential.
Some contact with clients is required and the post holder will at all times
be polite, courteous and act as a representative of the company.
The post holder will be able to work as part of a small team but also be able
to work on his/her own initiative when required.
The woodworker will be required to contribute to all aspects of the company's
work.
